How would you describe your job in 4 words?

Fun, challenging, innovative, and purposeful.

Explain what your job consists of:

I do many things at iTexico, an Improving Company. As a delivery manager, I work with clients to make sure we are delivering exactly to their expectations or surpassing their expectations. I also lead the Design Studio which is the division or Center of Excellence that focuses on user experience and product development and product innovation, so I work with the design teams to design great experiences for our clients and their products’ users. I also work with the mobile team to look at more opportunities into different platforms doing native and cross-platform development.

How does a workday look like for you?

I make sure that I’m available for the teams, make sure that we work with the team leads and our clients and our sales teams to make sure that there’s a good level of response in service. So depending on the day, there’s probably gonna be a lot of meetings, some sessions with our clients and also with our team members to check if there’s anything blocking them and make sure they are delivering according to expectations. So part of my job as a Delivery Manager is to help those team members with any blockers, and work with the Sales teams to learn what new opportunities are coming in so we can deliver on them as well.

What motivates you to get up and go to work?

The same thing that has motivated me since day 1, which is that purpose of driving the team, showcasing the talent that we have in Mexico. Making sure the talent at Improving is the best that we can find, and we show the capabilities that we have to different clients across the U.S. and North America and just blowing their minds every time. That’s part of the motivation. And additionally, building leaders, working with a great team is one of the most rewarding experiences I get to have, so working with different team members, different leaders, or building new leaders across the organization is also a great motivator for me.

What’s your favorite benefit at the company?

The flexibility and the trust that the team has put in me since the beginning. I’ve been in different roles, developing strategies, plans, and options on how to serve our clients. Trying out new processes, trying out new service offerings. The trust of just going with our initiative or our ideas and trying them out and learning based on that is probably my favorite thing because it has allowed me to grow through those experiences

Why was iTexico, an Improving company, your decision to continue your career? And how has your career grown since then?

iTexico was probably part of fate I would say, because I was just getting back from Australia and met Guillermo, co-founder, who invited me to join the project. The company was very small back then, probably a few people only. There were no design processes, no teams that focused on visual experiences. There was not a strong Marketing team back then either. So when I met the co-founders they told me about their dream and their vision and I thought it was the best thing for me back then. That’s the case right now as well. It’s been a great journey.

How has iTexico, an Improving company nurtured your development as a delivery manager in the professional landscape?

The company has allowed me to try different roles, experiment with processes and the offerings on design, user experience, product management, product innovation, and also leading different teams including engineering. Influencing the way we implement company culture across the organization. So I’m very proud of the things we have achieved and I think that's been possible because we feel involved in the way that we want to impact the teams, our clients, and the IT ecosystem.

What has been your favorite project so far?

From a client perspective, my favorite projects have a common factor, which is product innovation. So any project that we can come in and participate in innovation workshops or coming up with ideation and prototyping, and testing...that is probably my favorite part. Facilitating the collaboration and communication between different stakeholders and people on the teams and across different disciplines,

What has been your biggest challenge and how did you overcome it?

I think the biggest challenge is always to work with our team members, to grow them into leaders, to communicate the importance of the values that we have. So that’s probably the biggest ongoing challenge that we have as managers or leaders, to provide a good example, provide support, provide direction, but also make sure that we are executing. It's fun, because the more we grow the more it feels challenging, but I really like it.

What do you consider to be the most unique asset of your expertise?

I think in the creative side we bring a lot of perspective on the client, on the user, and the business needs to bring a balance and intersect what technology can do and what technology should be, and how it can really impact and benefit the user and the business alike. So that’s one of the value assets of product mindset and product innovation. That’s really fun: looking at different use cases and platforms depending on the business process, what their users are doing and what they expect to get out of technology without being intrusive. Reaching that experience is very important. And as consultants or as a third party bringing that perspective to clients is super valuable.

What’s your next step? What are some goals you’d like to accomplish in life or at Improving in the next few years?

This merger with Improving provides a lot of new opportunities for everybody to provide more influence into the way that we can provide services in the U.S and Canada, this is gonna potentialize the talent and showcase that talent with team members that are not only based in Mexico but also in the U.S. and Canada. I see myself leading a lot of that and working with our improvers. I see myself growing in other areas or executing roles. once i’ve exhausted my learning in my current role. there’s still a lot of stuff to be done and i really look forward to the future.

"iTexico now an Improving Company is a great option for anybody who’s trying to kick start their careers or finding opportunities to complement their existing skills. We are very excited to bring new talent...a LOT of talent, every week, every month. We are growing super rapidly and really looking forward to bringing in a lot of people that want to be part of this great team and family, that look forward to challenging themselves with different clients and different products, and just learn how we can work together to achieve great stuff."
